Charter

The Technology Interest Group focuses on personalized approaches to travel medicine using new technologies.

  • Explore and promote innovative methodologies in travel medicine, including mHealth, artificial intelligence, and behavioral science, to address diverse traveler health risks.
  • Promote equitable, accessible, ethical, and climate-friendly approaches to new technologies in travelers’ health.
  • Advocate for the integration of personalized approaches into standard pre-, during-, and post-travel care.
  • Facilitate collaboration among researchers, clinicians, and technologists to advance personalized travel health interventions and development of digital decision support tools.
  • Provide educational resources and training for ISTM members on leveraging new technologies in clinical practice.
  • Serve as a platform for sharing knowledge, research findings, and best practices globally.

Potential Activity and Goals

  • Webinars: Host 2-3 webinars per year on emerging technologies and methods for personalized travel medicine.
  • Collaborative Research Roundtable: Research roundtable to form subgroups for collaborative studies on themes like mHealth app development, real-time outbreak monitoring, or AI-based risk assessments.
  • Biennial Meeting Session: Propose a session at ISTM conferences to showcase innovative work.
  • Technology Spotlights: Develop a recurring “Tech Highlight” feature in newsletters or ISTM communications to spotlight promising new tools.
